Early life

Baba Siddique was born Ziauddin Siddique to Abdul Rahim Siddique and Razia Siddique. He studied at St. Annes High School, Mumbai and M.M.K. College, Mumbai, Bandra.

Ziauddin Siddique, better known as Baba Siddique, has used his immense experience and heartfelt commitment of serving the people to make a positive impact in his Bandra constituency, making Bandrakruz – Bandra, Khar and Santacruz, the heart of the city, not just a suburb. Baba joined the Congress (I) Party, as a teenager, in 1977. He actively participated in various students' movements of the time as a member of the Mumbai chapter of the National Students Union of India – the student's wing of the political party Indian National Congress. He went on to become the General Secretary of the Bandra Taluka of the Bandra Youth Congress in 1980 and was elected its president within the next two years.

Siddique was also appointed Chairman of the MHADA Mumbai Board by the Government of Maharashtra for a term of four years between 2000 and 2004. He was also appointed Minister of State for Food & Civil Supplies, Labour, FDA and Consumer Protection for the Government of Maharashtra for a term of four years in 2004.

Known for being a 'people's leader', Baba has the reputation of being always accessible to members of his constituency. During his tenure, money from the MLA Fund was used to get CCTV cameras installed at various locations across Bandra, Khar and Santacruz to make the area safer for the residents.

Baba has also been instrumental in using his MLA Fund resources for many other developmental activities-whether it be improvement of roads, extending the Carter Road promenade, beautifying the various parks in the region, maintaining the Bandstand promenade, setting up Wi-Fi hotspots at various locations for the youth, organising blood donation camps, a free ambulance service, malaria and dengue prevention drives, and various such other activities.

Baba is also one of the driving forces behind the Car Free Day, a KBS foundation initiative, that is celebrated every year in Bandra and is enjoyed by everyone from superstars to the common masses, who use the day for walking or cycling or playing at the Carter Road Promenade, which is free of any vehicles on that particular day.

Always at the service of his people, his dynamism has made Bandrakruz the pride of the city, with all the residents working as a team with his able assistance and leadership to make it a better place to live in.
