Distribution of Subsidized Rations as per Food Security Bill
Sep 2014

As a result of inflation, food grains, cooking oil and other items used in the kitchen daily have become costlier, affecting the common man adversly, who has to cut down on other expenditure to put food on his table.

Following the Food Security Bill passed by the then UPA Government, a drive was launched wherein rations were distributed to people of the BandraKruz area at subsidized rates. The drive was immensely successful as such an initiative was much needed by the lower-middle class section of the society, who are battling inflation every passing day.

The Food Security Act (also known as the Right To Food Act) is an Act of the Parliament which aims at providing subsidized food grains to approximately two thirds of India's 1.2 billion people and was implemented by the past UPA Government.

Cochlear Implant Program Initiative
Sep 2014

A cochlear implant (CI) is a surgically implanted electronic device that provides a sense of sound to a person who is deaf or severely hard of hearing. Baba Siddique and Salman Khan were present at Holy Family hospital to support the Cochlear Implant Program on its second anniversary and help spread awareness about the availability of this treatment at the hospital.

At the event, which was initiated by Dr. Chris D'Souza, a renowned ENT specialist, both Baba Siddique and Salman Khan were seen interacting with children who have undergone this treatment, bringing big smiles to their faces. A hearing disability is often considered crippling, but thanks to cochlear implants, many children and adults have a chance to lead a relatively normal life. Our endeavor to create awareness for this program is a continuous exercise.

Battling Diseases with Fogging at Your Doorstep
Aug 2014

In a fast city like Mumbai, staying healthy is of paramount importance and this is not possible when diseases like malaria and dengue can affect anyone in areas where mosquitoes thrive.

With the intention to provide a healthy atmosphere, a helpline number 9664567890 has been set up in the Bandra-Khar-Santacruz region where people can call up between 11 am to 6 pm for fogging in their localities.

Though the BMC does provide this service periodically, the regular fogging service provided has proved to be a major relief for people living in areas plagued by mosquitoes.

Eco-Friendly Dustbins
Aug 2014

Cleanliness is the need of the hour. No one likes to stay in a messy locality. Whether it is our room, home, society or streets, a beautiful and clean place not only spreads positivity but also reduces any possibility of diseases.

People often lament that even if they want to throw things, they couldn't find dustbins anywhere to throw trash in and this is why garbage ends up on the road.

We had received requests from various societies and residential groups for the supply of eco-friendly garbage bins to promote garbage segregation and general up-keep. The distribution drive received an overwhelming response and we were able to supply a large number of high quality bins. Due to the tremendous demand, we will continue supplying these dustbins to promote responsible disposing habits.

Beat Inflation with Affordable Vegetables & Fruits
Aug 2014

The recent price rise on a variety of commodities has made life difficult for many. From petrol and vegetables to railway fares, everyday necessities are becoming more and more expensive. In order to beat inflation, we started with an initiative of setting up centres for selling vegetables and fruits at affordable prices on a weekly basis. This fair price market is an important aspect for the community as fruits and vegetables should be affordable for everyone.

Everything available at these centers are sold at approx. Rs.15 to Rs. 20 below market prices. Fresh vegetables are brought from Vashi APMC and are thoroughly washed before they are put up for sale. These vegetables and fruits are sold daily in some localities and on fixed days in areas like Pyari Nagar, Danda Naka, Salsette DPRC Ground and Khar Gymkhana. Subsidized vegetables and fruits have helped to beat inflation.
